KOREAN AIR BANNED FROM ADDING INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS
The Korean government has banned for a year Korean Air from adding any new
international routes in reaction to a 1997 crash of a KAL 747 in Guam.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board this week blamed the KAL crew
and the Federal Aviation Administration for the Guam crash, which killed 228 people.
KAL said the Korean government’s disciplinary action is too harsh and that it
could hurt the airline’s ability to form alliances with foreign
carriers.
