EGL SEES $8.6-MILLION 3RD QUARTER LOSS
EGL, Inc reported a third-quarter loss of $8.6 million, compared to net income of $18.3 million for the third quarter of 2000.
The third-quarter 2001 result included a one-time $6.2 million, after tax, charge related to a legal settlement with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. EGL also reported pre-tax charges of about $5.6 million related to the sublease of five Boeing 727 aircraft and an increase in the reserve for future exposure on idle facilities resulting from the Circle merger.
Revenues for the third quarter were $415.0 million, 15 percent lower than the third quarter of 2000.
For the nine months ended Sept. 30, EGL reported a net loss of $34.8 million. Revenues for the nine months were $1.2 billion, down 8 percent.
