ContainerPort buys Cleveland-based company

Cleveland-based cargo services company ContainerPort Group said Monday it has acquired another Cleveland firm, Stack Container Services, for an undisclosed sum.

ContainerPort, which provides intermodal container trucking, inland container yard terminal and rail operations, warehousing/logistics, and container, chassis maintenance and repair services, operates a network of 17 terminals in the Midwest, Ohio Valley and East Coast.

Stack Container Services provides local, regional and over-the-road motor carrier services, specializing in the intermodal domestic container cargo market. The company operates terminals in Columbus and Cincinnati.

'CPG and SCS are joining together to create a single, stronger and more market-capable company,' ContainerPort said in a statement. 'The newly combined fleet will exceed 650 power units and will offer an expanded range of local, regional, round trip and one-way service throughout its service network.'
