MEDITERRANEAN/CANADA CARRIERS RAISE WESTBOUND RATES
Shipping lines of the Mediterranean-Canadian Freight Conference have notified shippers of a plan to increase their rates in April and October of 2003.
Rates from Italy, Spain and France to Canada will go up by $150 (United States dollars) per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-footer on April 1. This will be followed by an identical rate increase on Oct. 1, 2003.
The carriers of the Mediterranean-Canadian Freight Conference are: Canada Maritime and Cast, both owned by CP Ships; Senator Lines; and Zim Israel Navigation Co.
