WTS AGENCIES OFFERS ONLINE BILL OF LADING APPLICATION
WTS Agencies will offer ocean carriers, freight forwarders and shipping agents the ability to deliver bills of lading to their shippers and consignees over the Internet.
The application, WTS-i, provides “all the functionality of an ocean carrier’s customer service department,” such as cargo tracking, invoices, vessel schedules and the ability to print bills of lading.
One of the first users of WTS-i’s bill of lading service is Fesco Agencies North America.
WTS-i is part of a transportation software package, World Trade System, which includes ocean carrier functions, such as customer profiles, bookings, documentation, logistics, equipment, accounting, marketing and sales, and inventory management.
“An advantage of this system is that the equipment, intermodal, terminal and Customs information is transmitted electronically between WTS and vendors using the network via EDI (electronic-data-interchange),” the company said. “This ensures the information transmitted is error-free and is delivered to customers in real-time.”
WTS Agencies, based in Virginia Beach, Va., was the North American liner business for London-based Inchcape. WTS was the result of a senior management group buyout in January.
