Hong Kong-based port operator Hutchison Ports has agreed to partner with NAWAH Port Management, LLC (NPM) to manage existing and future operations at the Port of Basra in southern Iraq, according to a joint press release issued Tuesday by Hutchison Ports, NPM and The Pritzker Organization.
Hutchison Ports will oversee day-to-day commercial and operational activities at NPM, and will operate under the name of Hutchison Ports Basra.
“The terminal’s strategic location along the Shatt al-Arab river, combined with regular feeder services to key international destinations, make it an attractive option for servicing the region’s population, its oil industry and its ongoing development needs,” Hutchison Ports said.
Hutchison Ports has a network of operations at 49 ports spanning 26 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia.
