Hutchison’s Busan terminal fully recovered from typhoon

Hutchison’s Busan terminal fully recovered from typhoon

Hutchison Korea Terminals, part of Hutchison Port Holdings, said on Tuesday (Dec. 9) that it has now fully recovered from damage caused by typhoon “Maemi” in September.

This coincided with the commissioning of three new “super post-Panamax” quay cranes, replacing two cranes damaged in the storm.

“Operation levels of Hutchison Korea Terminals’ Busan terminal have fully recovered from the damages caused by typhoon Maemi,” said Raymond Law, Hutchison Port Holdings’ head of Korea, the Middle East and Africa. “This could only have been made possible through the leverage of the Hutchison Port Holdings group’s global resources.”

Having the extra quay crane in operation now even enhances productivity for the terminal, said Won-jong Choi, chief executive officer of Hutchison Korea Terminals.
