APHIS UPHOLDS BAN AGAINST MEAT IMPORTS FROM GREECE
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service said it will continue its ban of meat imports from Greece after a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy was found in a cow on July 2.
BSE, or “mad cow” disease, is a neurological disease of cattle and is not known to exist in the United States. It appears that BSE is primarily spread through the use of ruminant feed containing protein and other products from ruminants infected with BSE.
