Oklahoma shipper fined for air hazmat violation

The Federal Aviation Administration has proposed a $63,000 civil penalty against Terrazzo USA & Associates of McLoud, Okla. for allegedly violating federal hazardous materials regulations.

The U.S. Transportation Department’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a $63,000 civil penalty against Terrazzo USA & Associates of McLoud, Okla. for allegedly violating federal hazardous materials regulations.
The FAA said that on June 23, 2016, Terrazzo offered a box holding a container of corrosive liquid Master Flex Flexible Hardener to UPS for shipment by air. Workers at UPS’ Austin, Texas sort facility discovered the shipment was leaking.
The FAA alleged the package lacked the proper shipping papers describing the material, and was “not properly marked, labeled, packaged, described or in the proper condition for shipment to prevent the release of hazardous materials.” In addition, the agency said Terrazzo failed to provide its employees hazmat training.
