CMA CGM ADDS NINGBO, XIAMEN TO PACIFIC EASTBOUND LINK

French carrier CMA CGM is adding calls at Ningbo and Xiamen, China,
to the eastbound transpacific leg of its North China-Japan Pacific Express service.

CMA CGM will start to call weekly at the two Chinese ports in November.
Other ports of  call for the service, including Los Angeles and Oakland calls, remain
unchanged.

Following the addition of the two Chinese calls, the service will at four
mainland Chinese ports as part of the Asia-to-U.S. eastbound leg: Chiwan, Xiamen, Shanghai
and Ningbo.

Transit time from Ningbo to Los Angeles is 14 days.

Shanghai was previously the ‘last port out’ but draft restictions
meant that ships could not fully load. Ningbo, three hours’ steaming to the south of
Shanghai, has deep water, where the CMA CGM containerships can uplift additional cargo.

The traditional tanker port also has an export-oriented local light
industry.
