CORRECTION: CMA CGM may enroll more ships under tonnage tax regime
American Shipper+ Shippers’ NewsWire said CMA CGM may enter more containerships under the “tonnage tax” regime of the British flag. It should only have said CMA CGM may enter more containerships under the British “tonnage tax” regime, as putting a vessel under the British tonnage tax regime does not require registering the vessel under the British flag.
“There is currently no linkage between U.K. flag/U.K. registration and CMA CGM UK being in the U.K. tonnage tax regime,” a spokesman for the company said.
