Termont Montreal to handle MSC cargo at Port of Montreal
Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Co. has awarded a long-term contract to Termont Terminal subsidiary Termont Montreal (TM), to handle its cargo at the Canadian port of Montreal.
Termont Terminal operates the Maisonneuve container terminal at the Quebec port and is jointly owned by Logistec Stevedoring Inc. and NYK Group-owned Cerescorp Co.
Under terms of the contract, Termont has agreed to sell a one-third interest in TM to an affiliate company of MSC.
The Swiss ocean carrier is due to start a weekly transatlantic “Montreal Express” service at the end of this month.
According to Cerescorp, the agreement also encompasses Holland Maas Container Line’s existing Caribbean service, which added calls at Montreal late last year and which uses two MSC ships.
