Lufthansa, Swiss WorldCargo sign capacity agreement
Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo have concluded a capacity agreement under which each airline is guaranteed a certain amount of cargo capacity on each other airline’s network.
From Dec. 1, Lufthansa Cargo will guarantee Swiss World Cargo customers capacity on flights from Frankfurt to Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Madras and Tehran. Lufthansa Cargo customers can already make use of Swiss WorldCargo capacity on the Zurich/Frankfurt, Karachi/Zurich and Montreal/Zurich routes.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our customers an expanded network of services to Asia,” said Oliver Evans, chief cargo officer of Swiss International Air Lines. “And we are working together on exploiting further immediate-gain synergies — especially through sharing capacities, providing reciprocal network access and conducting joint purchasing activities.”
In July, the European Commission and the U.S. competition authorities gave their approval to the takeover of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. by Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
