DCLI expands chassis pool in L.A./Long Beach

Grand Alliance chassis pool will be terminated and Direct ChassisLink will contribute those assets to its expanded pool.

Direct ChassisLink, Inc. announced Monday it will expand its DIRECT CHASSISLINK POOL (DCLP) operating in Southern California, effective May 1, 2015. DCLI will contribute chassis assets formerly included in the Grand Alliance chassis pool (GACP) to the DCLP, and the GACP will terminate operations as a stand-alone pool, according to a statement from the company.
The DCLP, which operates in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, will now include approximately 28,000 total chassis, all of which will continue to be interoperable across the port complex via DCLP’s participation in the recently established “Pool of Pools” program.
The expanded pool will provide service for former GACP customers Hyundai, MOL, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, Hamburg Sud and Pasha, as well as current DCLP customers Maersk Line, MSC and Horizon Lines.
DCLI said customers formerly interchanging chassis through GACP may continue to do so through DCLP with uninterrupted access to the Pool of Pools chassis.
Based in Charlotte, N.C., DCLI manages an intermodal chassis fleet of 122,000 units across the United States.
