Limestone shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 3 million tons in November, a 10.8 percent increase from November 2014, according to the Lakes Carriers’ Association, which represents 15 American companies that operate 56 U.S.-flag vessels on the Great Lakes.
Shipments of limestone from U.S. ports reached 2.5 million tons in November, while shipments from Canadian ports totaled 500,000 tons, year-over-year increases of 11.1 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively.
Overall, 27.5 million tons on limestone have been shipped on the Great Lakes throughout 2015, an increase of 7.0 percent from the corresponding period in 2014.
