Bruner, Newsome to receive æConnieÆ awards
The Containerization & Intermodal Institute said that it will present the 2010 East Coast-based Connie Awards to J. Russell Bruner, chairman and chief executive officer of Maersk Inc., and James I. Newsome III, President and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority.
The awards will be presented Dec. 7 at The Newark Club in an evening event, that will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of CII.
The Newark Club event is in addition to the West Coast-based Connie Awards on Sept. 30 in Long Beach, Calif., honoring Ron Widdows, group president and chief executive officer of NOL, and Jon Hemingway, CEO and president of SSA Marine/Carrix.
Each recipient is being honored for his significant influence in containerization in worldwide trade and transportation, according to Allen Clifford, president of CII.
