HAPAG-LLOYD TO TAKE DELIVERY OF FIRST 7,500-TEU SHIP IN OCTOBER

Hapag-Lloyd Container Line will take delivery of the first of a series of four 7,500-TEU containerships in October.

The 25.3-knot ship will then be the largest containership in the fleet of the German carrier and its first post-Panamax ship.

Hapag-Lloyd said that the vessel will be put into service immediately after delivery.

The next three ships in the series are scheduled to be delivered in April and October 2002 and in March 2003.

All the partners of Hapag-Lloyd in the Grand Alliance — P&O Nedlloyd, OOCL, NYK and Malaysia International Shipping Corp. — already operate post-Panamax containerships.
