FEDEX EXTENDS PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF TIMES
Federal Express Corp. said Tuesday it will offer later times for shipping packages via Fed Ex Express in the United States, Europe and Toronto, starting Feb. 26.
FedEx Extra Hours will allow select customers with regularly scheduled pick-ups and customers who drop off shipments to add as much as three hours to their normal pick-up or drop-off times in many major markets.
More than 90 markets in the continental United States, 14 European markets and Toronto will be served by FedEx Extra Hours. Shipments in the United States and from Europe or Canada to the United States will be delivered by 3 p.m. the next business day, Monday through Friday. Shipments from the United States to Europe will be delivered by 10:30 a.m., noon or end of business, second business day.
FedEx Extra Hours shipments will be assessed a $15 premium over FedEx Priority Overnight and FedEx International Priority rates. The service will be backed by two FedEx Express money-back guarantees.
The shipments will move through the existing FedEx network, but on a different sort cycle. FedEx will use existing equipment and resources to handle these later shipments, using more than 80 flights and some additional trucks. All packages will be sorted in the Indianapolis hub and the operations will run about two hours later than the regular system.
