PORT OF PHILADELPHIA TO ORDER POST-PANAMAX CONTAINER CRANES
The port of Philadelphia, Pa., has announced a plan to order two post-Panamax ship-to-shore container cranes for its Packer Avenue marine terminal.
The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority expects the large new cranes to be installed at the 106-acre Packer Avenue terminal within 15 months.
The post-Panamax cranes will allow the port to handle a wider range of vessels.
They will have a height and outreach to work vessels 17 containers across, the width of the largest containerships in service today.
