Hamlin steps down as president of APL Americas
Bill Hamlin, president of the Americas region of APL, is leaving the company, Neptune Orient Lines confirmed today.
Hamlin is leaving APL “to pursue other opportunities outside the container transportation industry,” the Singapore-based parent company said. His future job was not known at the time of writing Wednesday.
“Bill has made a considerable contribution to the company during his time with us and we wish him the very best for the future,” said Ron Widdows, chief executive officer of APL, in a statement.
Last year, Hamlin's geographic area of responsibility was broadened to include Latin America in addition to his original region of North America.
Hamlin also represented APL and its marine terminal subsidiaries within the Pacific Maritime Association of U.S. West Coast terminal operators, as a member of its board of directors.
Neptune Orient Lines has appointed John Bowe to succeed Hamlin as the new head of its APL Americas region, based in Oakland, Calif. He will report to Widdows, who is based in Singapore.
Bowe was vice president and managing director of APL’s Hong Kong/South China region, a position he had held since 2001.
