Senator switches partners on Europe/South America route

Senator Lines is to switch partners in the north Europe/East Coast South America trade and extend its coverage to include Argentina as well as Brazil.

From December, the Bremen-based carrier will charter slots on the weekly service of Mediterranean Shipping Co.

At the same time, Senator will cease to be a member of the nine-member “EECSA” grouping which serves only Brazil.

“We want to further develop our position and activities in the South America services,” said Senator Lines’ director of marketing Wilfried Seifert.

Service to Argentina will be upgraded by the reintroduction of a direct weekly call.

“Our co-operation with MSC is built on a long-term basis,” said Wilfried Seifert, Senator Lines’ director of marketing.

MSC’s “North Europe-ECSA” service operates with six vessels averaging 2,750 TEUs. It has a port rotation of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Tilbury, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Las Palmas, and Antwerp.
