U.S. State Department issues ôcautionö with maritime citation
The U.S. State Department has released a “worldwide caution” advisory “to remind U.S. citizens of the continuing threat that they may be a target of terrorist actions … and to add the potential for threats to maritime interests.”
“We expect al-Qaeda will strive for new attacks that will be more devastating that the Sept. 11 attacks, possibly involving nonconventional weapons, such as chemical or biological agents. We also cannot rule out the potential for al-Qaeda to attempt a second catastrophic attack in the U.S.,” the State Department said.
“Terrorist actions may include, but are not limited to, suicide operations, hijackings, bombings and kidnappings. These may also involve commercial aircraft and maritime interests,” the department said.
