CONTSHIP TO CHARTER REPLACEMENT SHIP FOR EUROPE/INDIA LINK
Contship Containerlines will charter a new vessel to
replace the Contship Harmony following an accident south of Aqaba.
The Contship Harmony, a 2,877-TEU chartered ship built in 1997, hit an
underwater obstruction while transitting the Red Sea.
The vessel was operating on the northern Europe/Mediterranean/Red
Sea/MidEast/Indian Subcontinent "EPIC" joint service of Contship, CMB Transport,
P&O Nedlloyd, CMA-CGM, Ellerman and Hapag-Lloyd.
Cargoes on board the damaged ship have been discharged in Aqaba for
on-carriage, a spokesman for Contship said.
