Intermarine to charter four heavy-lift cargo ships
New Orleans-based breakbulk and heavy-lift specialist Intermarine LLC has signed an agreement with Portuguese shipyard Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castello for the long-term charter of four new 8,000-deadweight-ton heavy-lift cargo ships.
The vessels will have a length of 120 meters (394 feet) and beam of 20 meters (66 feet), featuring dual 250 metric ton cranes that may be combined for 500-ton lifts. The first vessel is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter, 2006.
