UNITED, MECHANICS RATIFY AGREEMENT
United Airlines mechanics, utility workers and related employees represented by International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 141M have ratified the tentative agreement reached with the company last month. The ratification ends a two-year battle between workers and the airline.
“Today’s ratification puts a long and difficult process behind us,” said Jack Creighton, United's chief executive officer. “Our next goals are to address the outstanding contracts with IAM District 141 and then to work collectively and creatively with our union leadership and all employee groups to continue our recovery strategy.”
The carrier, which has struggled since the Sept. 11 attacks, reportedly lost more than $2 billion last year.
