Maersk Line issued general rate increases from:
• The East Coast of South America to Europe (excluding Syria) effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $250 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
• The East Coast of South America to Syria effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by 223 euros per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
• Far East Asia to East Africa effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU, and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers.
• North Europe to Saudi Arabia cluster and United Arab Emirates cluster effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $150 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
• North Europe to India cluster, Bangladesh cluster and Pakistan cluster effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $500 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
• Far East Asia to New Zealand effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $200 per TEU; and $400 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
• China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea to Australia effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will also increase for TEU and FEU containers.

• The Middle East to North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, North Africa, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and the Red Sea for dry and reefer cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $350 per FEU and $500 per FEU.
• India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, North Africa, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and the Red Sea for dry and reefer cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $350 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
• North Europe, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Baltic to the Middle East and Red Sea for reefer cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU (reefer) and $300 per FEU (reefer).
Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases from:
• East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
• Uruguay to the West Coast of Latin America for all cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
• Brazil to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean effective Sept. 12. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU container (dry and reefer) and $300 per FEU container (dry and reefer).
• East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America, Panama, the Gulf of Mexico and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
• India and the Middle East to Mexico and West and East Coast of Central America, the West and East Coast of South America, the Caribbean and Panama for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU container and $500 per FEU container.
• East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
Hapag-Lloyd will also increase Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates for all cargo and standard container types from East Asia to the North Continent and West Mediterranean effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $1,250 per TEU container, $2,400 per FEU container and $2,450 per 40-foot high cube container.
The German carrier will also increase FAK rates from East Asia to the East Mediterranean, the Black Sea and North Africa for all cargo and standard container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $1,500 per TEU container, $3,000 per FEU container and $3,050 per 40-foot high cube container.
Hapag-Lloyd will also increase FAK rates from the North Continent and the Mediterranean to the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East for all cargo and standard container types effective Sept. 1.
MOL announced a general rate increase from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe for all cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU.
Emirates Shipping Line issued a general rate increase from the Far East and Southeast Asia for all shipments to Mombasa, Kenya; and Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar in Tanzania effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $375 per TEU and $750 per FEU for dry van and high-cube containers.
Several members of the Caribbean Shipowners Association (CSO) – Crowley, Hybur, Seaboard Marine and Tropical – issued a temporary peak season surcharge (PSS) on all U.S. Southbound cargo to the Cayman Islands effective Sept. 25 through Jan. 1, 2017. Rates will increase by $75 per TEU (dry and reefer); $150 per FEU (dry and reefer); $169 for over 40 feet; $45 each for vehicles up to 700 cft; $3.60 w/m (40 cft or 2,000 pounds) for breakbulk, LCL and vehicles exceeding 700 cft; and $0.09/cft for LCL (1 cft); and $0.18/cwt for LCL (100 pounds).
