NORTH PACIFIC OFF-HIRES SHIP, LOWERS FREQUENCY

NORTH PACIFIC OFF-HIRES SHIP, LOWERS FREQUENCY

North Pacific Steamship Lines, the transpacific niche carrier, has off-hired one of the three ships it used in its service.

Frequency of the service has decreased from 11 days to 18 days.

However, the ocean carrier is looking for, in the short term, a replacement vessel with a speed of at least 18 knots.

North Pacific stopped operating the 1,022-TEU chartered ship Everett Express because its speed was insufficient and it could not keep the schedule, the carrier said.

North Pacific provides a direct service between Everett, Wash., and ports in Asia.
