EPA LAUNCHES WEB SITE ON U.S. MARINE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has launched a Web site that covers its interests and views in the U.S. Marine Transportation System.

EPA is most concerned about environmental issues involving the dredging of ports and ship channels. The agency also wants to reduce pollution sources in port and terminal development and during operations and cargo handling, seek better ways to manage ballast water to prevent invasions of non-indigenous species, and more efficiently control pollution from vessels.
