UPS LAUNCHES ‘CAMPUSSHIP’ FOR PC-ENABLED SHIPMENTS

UPS said Tuesday it has introduced CampusShip, a distribution solution that allows UPS packages to be processed and shipped via computer desktops or laptops.

UPS developed CampusShip for businesses with widespread facilities, for use by employees spread out from each other, whether on a corporate campus, in multiple stores, or in offices scattered around the country, according to Tim Geiken, vice president of e-commerce marketing at UPS. The product recently completed an eight-month beta testing phase.

The system allows centralized control over shipping procedures and costs, and simplifies billing by generating shipping histories required for client invoicing.

Companies that participated in the beta testing include The Home Depot, Best Buy, DaimlerChrysler, and Holland & Knight, a law firm.
