CP SHIPS, CSAV LAUNCH EUROPE/WEST AFRICA/SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE
CP Ships-owned Contship Containerlines and Lykes Lines, together with Compania Sud Americana de Vapores and its affiliated company Montemar, are launching a triangular container service linking North Europe, West Africa and the East Coast of South America.
The service also marks the entry of Contship, Lykes, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores and Montemar in the Europe/West Africa trade.
Lykes Lines said the service would carry dry and reefer containers between North Europe, West Africa and the East Coast of South America.
Four 1,100-TEU ships will call at the West African ports of Dakar, in Senegal, and Abidjan, in the Ivory Coast, in the southbound direction only. The vessels will sail direct from Brazil to North Europe on the northbound leg.
The service will run with a 10-day frequency and will be launched in October.
Compania Sud Americana de Vapores and Montemar will operate the four ships, with Contship and Lykes Lines taking slots.
The full port rotation of the service is: Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Lisbon, Las Palmas, Dakar, Abidjan, Santos, Itajai, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and Rotterdam.
