MODERN TERMINALS OPENS SHANGHAI OFFICE
Modern Terminals , the longest established container terminal operator in Hong Kong, has opened a representative office in Shanghai, in anticipation of port development along the northern and eastern China coastline.
The office is headed by Shi Jianxiang, general manager. He has more than 25 years of shipping industry experience.
Erik Bogh Christensen, Modern Terminals' managing director, said the new office would play a 'major role' in the company's strategy to develop Mainland ports. Besides Shanghai, the company is exploring other key coastal cities, including Qindao and Tianjin.
The terminal operator already has a presence in southern China, in the western Shenzhen ports. It has recently strengthened its role in Shekou Container Terminals. Its southern operations are managed from its Hong Kong head office.
