CHINA SHIPPING GROUP PLANS SECOND PACIFIC STRING FOR NEXT YEAR
China Shipping Group, the new Chinese containership operator, confirmed
that it is planning to add a second transpacific string next March or April.
Details of the future itinerary of the service and its tonnage are unknown.
The service will include additional ports of call, including Vancouver, not currently
served by the carrier’s first transpacific string.
China Shipping Group has just commenced its previously-announced
"America Express" weekly service with six containerships of about 2,000-TEU and
a rotation of Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kobe, Los Angeles, Seattle, Yokohama, Kobe and
Xiamen.
The first vessel employed in the new service is scheduled to arrive at Los
Angeles on Dec. 6.
