EXEL CONTRACTS WITH EDDIE BAUER
Distribution Fulfillment Services Inc., the logistics arm of The Spiegel Group, has contracted with Exel Direct, a product fulfillment unit of Exel, a U.K.-based provider of logistics solutions, to handle shipments of Eddie Bauer products in the United States.
Exel Direct provides nationwide residential “white glove” delivery of Eddie Bauer home furnishings. After inspecting a shipment for damage and preparing it for transport, Exel Direct’s employees then deliver the merchandise to a particular home, unpack it, install it, and haul away packing debris.
“We can bundle multiple markets into one centralized administrative point of contact,” said George Csehill, director of Business Development, Exel Direct.
Exel also said it has been appointed by Smith & Associates, a distributor of semiconductors, as a partner in S&A’s logistics operations in Europe. Exel will warehouse a portion of S&A’s inventory at a safeguarded facility near Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
Tansas, the third-largest retailer in Turkey, has awarded Exel a three-year contract to provide warehousing and distribution services for fruit and vegetables throughout the Ankara region in northern Turkey.
