ENTRY DENIED TO PRODUCTS FROM FIVE MACAU FIRMS

The U.S. Customs Service said Tuesday it is denying entry to products from five firms in Macau, after Customs said they were illegally transshipping or were unable to produce records verifying production. The restrictions are effective Sept. 3, 2002.

The chairman of the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) is directing Customs to deny entry to textile and textile products manufactured by the Cheerful Garment Factory, the Sai Land Garment Factory, and Tung Land Garment factory for five years; and the Mei Lai and Vai Iat Lda. companies for six months.

CITA said that if this decision should be amended, such an amendment would be posted in the Federal Register.    For more information on the directive, contact Anna Flaaten, U.S. Department of Commerce, 202-482-3400.
