U.S. CUSTOMS ORDERS FINGERPRINTER FOR AIRPORT SECURITY CHECKS
The U.S. Customs Services is installing Visionics Corp.'s FingerPrinter CMS live scan fingerprint systems within their facilities at 16 major international airports.
The purpose for the systems is to conduct criminal background checks on all employees, including local service employees, cleaning personnel, food and beverage handlers, who need access to the U.S. Customs Services area within the airport facilities.
Visionics’ live scan electronic fingerprint scanning systems are used to digitally capture high quality prints for submission to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If an employee is found to have a criminal record, the service company or airline is required to assign another individual to work within the designated U.S. Customs area in the airport.
