TMM, Lykes to provide Asia/Central America link via Mexico hub
CP Ships-owned TMM Lines and Lykes Lines are starting in mid-March a Mexico/West Coast of Central America relay service that will allow them to provide transshipments between Asia and Central America via Mexico.
The “Mexico West Coast Central America” service will operate every 10 days and call at Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, where it will link with the carriers’ Mexico/Asia transpacific service. The relay service will also call at the ports of Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica, and Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala.
“By operating our own service between Central America and Mexico, we can offer our customers the benefit of dedicated TMM Lines services all the way from Central America to Asia,” says Juan Manuel Gonzalez, executive vice president of TMM.
TMM and Lykes will also take space from Mediterranean Shipping Co. on its Andes service between the Mexican port of Manzanillo and Buenaventura, San Antonio and San Vincente in South America.
