Shoener joins Kansas City Southern

   Kansas City Southern (KCS), the rail transportation holding company, said industry veteran Arthur L. Shoener will take responsibility for its U.S.-based rail holdings.

   Shoener has worked in the transportation industry since 1968 and becomes KCS’s executive vice president and chief operating officer as well as president and chief executive officer of both its U.S. rail holding companies, Kansas City Southern Railway Co. and Texas Mexican Railway (Tex-Mex).

   Shoener will report to Michael R. Haverty, chairman, president and CEO of KCS. Haverty, also chairman of Kansas City Southern Railway Co., now takes up the same role with Tex-Mex.

   Following the arrival of Shoener, Jerry Heavin, formerly senior vice president operations at Kansas City Southern Railway Co., becomes senior vice president of international engineering.

   KCS also said Owen M. Zidar has been appointed Vice president of marketing at the holding company.

   Kansas City Southern is a holding company comprising four railroads: Kansas City Southern Railway Co., Texas Mexican Railway, Grupo Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana and the Panama Canal Railway Co.
