Harman awards Kuehne & Nagel European distribution contract
Harman Consumer International, part of U.S.-based manufacturer Harman International Industries Inc., has appointed Kuehne & Nagel in the Netherlands to operate its product distribution network for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The contract encompasses the management of the inbound flow of finished goods to Europe, by sea and air, from five U.S. and Asian production sites. It also includes customs clearance, warehousing and inventory management, order picking and outbound distribution in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, Kuehne & Nagel is responsible for product inspection and returns management.
Kuehne & Nagel will manage a distribution center in Utrecht, The Netherlands, that will be the center of Harman’s regional distribution network. The Swiss forwarding and logistics group said it would devote 15,000 square meters of warehousing space at the center to Harman.
