USTRANSCOM NAMES HUGHEY DEPUTY COMMANDER IN CHIEF

   Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Gary H. Hughey was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and will serve as deputy commander in chief of the U.S. Transportation Command.

   Hughey will replace Army Lt. Gen. Daniel G. Brown. Prior to this appointment, Hughey served as deputy commander for the Marine Corps in Japan.

   Brown will retire from military service next month. He served as USTRANSCOM deputy commander in chief since October 1999.

   USTRANSCOM, based at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., oversees the military’s transportation logistics operations, which include the Military Traffic Management Command, Military Sealift Command and Air Mobility Command.
