K + N opens offices in Chicago, Tampa
Swiss freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel has relocated its Chicago branch office to a new and larger facility.
Positioned at a major transportation hub, the Chicago location also serves as a sea and air freight gateway for K + N branch offices throughout the Midwest, the company said.
The new facility includes 128,500 square feet of cargo handling space and 27,000 square feet of office space. It also includes bonded container freight station space, consolidation and de-consolidation services, customs brokerage, hazardous-materials handling, and Transportation Security Administration security screening.
In addition, K + N will open a new facility near Florida's Tampa International Airport. That operation will offer a complete range of air, sea, import, export, brokerage and warehousing services in addition to 40,000 square feet of cargo-handling space. Based on office and warehouse size, the new Tampa facility will make K + N the largest service provider in the area. K + N also maintains Florida operations in Orlando and Miami.
'We look forward to cultivating current and new relationships in the Southeast region,' said Juergen Gentzke, K + N's regional vice president, in a statement. “This new location illustrates the area's growing importance as a major distribution and logistics center.'
