SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PORTS GO TO HIGHER ALERT LEVEL
The U.S. Coast Guard has raised its terrorist threat level for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach from Level 1 to Level 2, according to the Port of Long Beach's April newsletter.
The higher level of security includes measures such as escorting visitors and suppliers through the port, inspecting deliveries, random searches of vehicles, extra security patrols and increased inspections of vessels and crews.
