Nottingham sworn in as STB chairman
Charles D. Nottingham was sworn in as the U.S. Surface Transportation Board’s newest member and chairman, at a ceremony Monday at the Transportation Department’s Washington headquarters.
Nottingham was nominated by President Bush to the STB on June 5. His nomination was confirmed by the Senate on Aug. 4. As the STB’s ninth member and its fourth chairman, Nottingham will serve a term of office ending Dec. 31, 2010.
Before joining the STB, Nottingham was the associate administrator for policy and governmental affairs at the DOT’s Federal Highway Administration. He also served as chief executive officer of the Virginia Transportation Department.
