Former employees buy Radius Rail Logistics

Radius Rail Logistics, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based provider of intermodal transportation to freight brokers and shippers, has been acquired by two former officers of the company.

Jesse Martinez and Greg Harrison acquired RRL on Aug. 1 from Circumference America Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Martinez and Harrison had previously been with Circumference and Radius in 2007 and 2008, but left late last year to form their own business.

Martinez, who has been in the transportation field for nearly a decade, will serve as president and chief executive officer of Radius and Harrison, who was with CSX Intermodal for a number of years, will be executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Radius will also continue to operate as agents for Sunteck Transport Group.

RRL offers shippers spot market and door-to-door intermodal services for truckload transportation needs. Service is provided throughout all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

“We are very optimistic for the demand for intermodal transportation as the economy begins to improve,” Martinez said. “As the need for transportation services increases, intermodal capacity will be required to complement highway capacity. Radius Rail was designed to assist 3PLs, transportation brokers and new intermodal shippers with spot market and door-to-door intermodal rates and services that have the convenience, reliability and comfort level normally associated with straight truck moves. We feel these services will be in demand in late 2009 and into 2010.”
