Coast Guard warns of Dec. 31-deadline to report missing data to IMO
The U.S. Coast Guard has reminded chemical manufacturers of a year-end deadline to supply missing pollution or safety data for the revised International Code for the Construction & Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk.
The revised code will affect the bulk shipment of certain products on most international voyages, the Coast Guard said.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) should receive any missing data by no later than Dec. 31, the agency warned.
Missing data should be delivered to the following address: GESAMP/EHS, International Maritime Organization, 4 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7SR, United Kingdom.
'This notice 'does not mean that the Coast Guard will necessarily be implementing the IMO action on all international shipments,' the Coast Guard said. Such implementation 'would be the subject of a future rulemaking under a distinct docket.'
