UNITED STATES/MEDITERRANEAN CARRIERS RAISE OCEAN RATES
Maersk Sealand, Hapag Lloyd and P&O Nedlloyd, the three ocean carriers of the United States South Europe Conference, are planning to increase their westbound tariff rates from the Mediterranean to the U.S., effective Oct. 1.
Planned price rises under the carriers’ westbound tariff amount to $120 per 20-foot container and $150 per 40 or 45-foot box.
“This increase is a measure, as part of an ongoing need, to improve rate viability to sustain the level of service demanded by customers,” the conference said in a statement.
