Coast Guard commander notes anti-terror gains
In an appearance at the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in Tampa, Coast Guard Vice Admiral D. Brian Peterman said the Coast Guard has become an important element in the war on terror.
Peterman was in Tampa for an overview of Coast Guard operations from several department heads, including Vice Adm. David Nichols, U.S. Navy, Deputy Commander of U.S. Central Command.
'I don't think that America understand the key role that the U.S. Coast Guard plays around the world in the global war on terrorism,' Nichols was quoted as saying in a Coast Guard news release. 'The Coast Guard is heavily involved in the Maritime Security Operations in the Persian Gulf.'
