Zim sets up Central American shipping unit
Zim Israel Navigation Co. is setting up a Central American shipping unit that will be responsible for the company’s operations in the region and the development of new services.
The unit, Zim Central America Services, is scheduled to be operative in January. Zim said that the new organizational unit will report directly to its head office, located in Israel.
Zim currently operates an array of feeder services through the port of Kingston, Jamaica, which is a main transshipment hub for the company. These services call ports in Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo) and the U.S. Gulf, as well as other ports in the region. Zim’s deep-sea shipping services, such as the “Zim Container Service” and the “Zim Inter-Americas Service,” also call at Kingston.
