GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued rate increases on various trades.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line issued general rate increases from:
     • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $700 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will also increase by $700 for 40-foot high cube reefer containers and 40-foot non-operating reefer (NOR) containers.
     • India to Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Barbados effective Aug. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $50 per TEU; and $100 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • India to Colombia, Puerto Rico, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Barbados effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $150 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua effective Aug. 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU; and $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. For reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. Rates will also increase by $1,000 for 40-foot NOR containers (excluding Buenaventura).
   Maersk also announced an increased “Freight all Kinds” FAK rate from all Asian countries (excluding Japan) to all Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North African countries effective Aug. 1.
   In addition, the Danish carrier revealed an increased FAK rate from Far East Asia’s main ports (excluding Japan) to North Europe’s main ports effective Aug. 1.
  CMA CGM announced general rate increases from:
     • All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo in two successive steps. On Aug. 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, while on Aug. 15, rates will increase by an additional $100 per TEU.
     • All Asian ports to Pakistan, the West Coast of India and Sri Lanka for all cargo in two successive steps. On Aug. 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, while on Aug. 15, rates will increase by an additional $100 per TEU.
     • The East Coast of South America to North Europe, the Baltic, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean effective Aug. 15. For dry and reefer containers, rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $250 per FEU.
     • The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East Gulf to West Africa for all cargo effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU.
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to Kenya and Tanzania for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $400 per TEU and $800 per FEU.
     • North Europe, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and the Baltic to the Middle East and Red Sea effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
     • North Europe, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, and the Baltic to India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka effective Sept. 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases from:
     • North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, the East Coast of Central America, Panama, the Gulf of Mexico and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU container and $1,500 per FEU container.
     • Northeast Asia to Australia for all cargo and container types effective Sept. 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
   In addition, Hapag-Lloyd announced an increased FAK rate from East Asia to the North Continent and the West Mediterranean for all cargo and standard container types effective Aug. 15. Rates will increase by $1,250 per TEU container, $2,400 per FEU container and $2,450 per 40-foot high cube container.
   The German carrier also announced an increased FAK rate from East Asia to the East Mediterranean, the Black Sea and North Africa for all cargo and standard container types effective Aug. 15.  Rates will increase by $1,550 per TEU container, $3,000 per FEU container and $3,050 per 40-foot high cube container.
