KUEHNE & NAGEL REPORTS BOOM IN AVIATION LOGISTICS
Kuehne & Nagel reported a continued growth in
volumes handled by its aviation logistics division, responsible for moving spare parts for
airlines and aircraft manufacturers.
During the first half of 1999, the freight forwarding group’s aviation
logistics division handled 63,731 consignments with a total weight of 6,344 tons.
Kuehne & Nagel said the specialist division increases volumes in
double digit growth rates every year.
The company works for 20 airlines and aircraft manufacturers such as
Airbus Industries and Boeing.
Global operations are supported by a network of 28 Kuehne & Nagel
stations called "Aviation Logistics Gateways" in the U.S., Canada, Europe and
Asia.
Consignment sizes vary from a one-kilo packet with screws to a complete
eight-ton aero-engine, Kuehne & Nagel said.
