BROWN, CROWLEY JR. SHARE AOTOS AWARD
The United Seamen’s Service in New York announced on Wednesday that its annual “Admiral of the Ocean Sea (AOTOS) Award” in 2002 will go to Capt. Timothy A. Brown, international president of the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots, a union of licensed ship’s officers, and to'Thomas Crowley, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Crowley Maritime Corporation.
The United Seamen’s Service will also give a special AOTOS to Talmage E. Simpkins, president of the USS, and special AOTOS recognition to C. Peter Lambos, an admiralty attorney prominent in maritime labor negotiations.
Tim Brown is serving his fourth consecutive term as president of the MM&P. He sailed as a master for Sea-Land from 1983 to 1991 before being elected to his union office.
Tom Crowley has been CEO of Crowley Maritime Corp. since the death of his father, Tom Crowley Sr., in 1994.
' The United Seamen’s Service will present the AOTOS awards during an industry dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers on Nov. 8.
